Mark Lobensteijn has been a producer ever since the late 80’s.
Born and raised in the Dutch The Hague area in 1969 he grew up with loads of different kinds of music. Varying from Jazz, Bossa Nova, Classical and folk music up to the early electronic music by Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Tomita, Moroder, Soccio and so on.
In the early 80’s the first synthesizers and drum machines entered the home through his elder brother and Mark started to secretly try them out. He taught himself to work with the, what we would now call vintage, synths and drum machines and soon his first own tracks would evolve.
Mark kicked off with Global Dance Project’s “Abo-Road” as one of his first projects being released on vinyl in 1993 and quickly followed by a second release called “The Rising Sun” in 1994 on Native Dance Records of which he later became the A&R manager.
In 1994 he had a modest club hit called “Violins” under yet another alias, “Pleasant Chemistry” on the renowned Belgian Legato label.
Around 1996 Native Dance Records got more serious and Mark started as A&R Manager and co-owner of the label. Shortly after he signed Ferry Corsten as Moonman to the Sci Fi sub-label to name but just one.
Other aliases from that era are Mark’s & Henry’s with which he appeared on the famous Café del Mar Vol. Dos compilation, Synthetic Realm and Applethree which both appeared on the Unpaved Roads 3 compilation on the EDM sublabel called Nutrition.
On most releases Mark also made more downtempo versions in the same theme like for example “Jill” by Mark’s & Henry’s which has now reached over 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone.
This inspired him to produce a whole album in this more Ambient Groove style and so in 2000 another alias was born: Mark Moon and his album “Contrasts”. Just recently, after 22 years, this album was re-released on all digital platforms.
Mark Moon also did remixes for Gouryella, Chew-Fu Phat, Roger Goode and Comanova.
Mark’s love for 80’s electronic music like Italo disco, Synth pop, Synth wave, electro etc. always found its way into his music whether it was house, techno, trance or ambient groove. Motivated and inspired by Michiel van der Kuy (Laserdance, LA Style, Nymphomania etc.), in 2017 Mark released his first Marco Di Luna album called Shimmering Stars which reflects how he musically re-lives the 80’s and thus the inspiration is obvious.
In 2021 another album called “Electro Disco” saw the light of day and again Mark’s musical 80’s shine through as his major source of inspiration. In 2022 the 12” single “Manna Machine” was released on vinyl by Random Vinyl followed in 2023 by a digital release called “More Energy” and “No more revenge” on his own Marlo Productions label.
More recently Mark got in touch with Harry Lemon aka Lemon8 who inspired him to discover the realm of progressive house and released several tracks as Bill Sender, yes another alias was born ☺
